Trip summary:
Cuzco: Qoricancha – Cathedral – Sacsayhuaman – Quenqo – Puca pucará – Tambomachay
At 1 pm, we will meet in the lobby of your hotel to start your tour. From here, you will go to Plaza de Armas de Cusco, where you will visit the famous cathedral. to then we will walk along an old street built by the Incas from the Plaza de Armas to the Q'oricancha, the Temple of the Sun. In the Q'oricancha you can appreciate impressive architecture on the constructions of the Inca culture and Catholicism. this was the key spiritual center of the Incas, which leads to the four Rooms of the Inca Empire. There is also a high bronze altar. to be seen.
From Qoricancha, your group will walk along Avenida El Sol, where you will take our 25 minute bus outside the city. You will arrive at the majestic site of Sacsayhuaman, where your Guide will show you around.
The Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha:
It is one of the oldest Inca buildings important and is considered the ceremonial and religious heart of the Inca empire.
The Cathedral of Cusco:
Is a complex located in the area known as QOSQO WANKA (Heap of Stones). This place was dedicated by the Incas to the Andean Religious Cosmovision, and later, the Convent of Santo Domingo was built on this site.
The Archaeological Site of Sacsayhuamán:
An impressive fortress located in the upper part of the city of Cusco, about 5 kilometers away. It is an architectural setting where two Inca festivals of great importance are currently staged: the INTIRAYMI or Festival of the Sun, and the WARACHIKUY or Initiation Rite.
From Sacsayhuaman, you will continue on our bus to the Inca site of Quenqo to observe some altars of the time inca. Next, we will go to Puca Pucara, a small circular Inca site and finally we will visit Tambomachay the water temple, then we will be back to Cusco and we will leave you at your hotel.
The Archaeological Complex of Qenqo:
A sacred amphitheater and center of worship for the God Puma (symbol of war), where human sacrifices were performed. Located 6 km from Cusco.
The Puca Pucara Fortress:
A red fortress built in the 11th century to protect the Temple of Water (Tambomachay). Located 7 km from the city of Cusco.
The Puca Pucara Fortress:
A temple dedicated to the worship of the God of Water. Located 8 km from Cusco, apparently built by Tupac Yupanqui. We can see the Inca baths, which are supplied with water through aqueducts. These baths maintain a constant water flow throughout the year, and the source of the water that supplies Tambomachay is still unknown.
