DAY 01
Checacupe- Mountain of Colors Palccoyo- Forest of stones
The adventure begins very early, we will come to pick it up you up at your hotel at 4:00 am, in our private transportation. We will travel for 2 hours to the small town of Cusipata where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast. After that we continue with our tour and we will make a short stop in Checacupe, to visit the bridges of three different Epochs of Peruvian history: Inca, Colonial and Republican. This town is famous for its church and for being the place where the hero Tupac Amaru II was defeated after an endless fight for independence.
After our stop, we will continue with our journey for an hour and a half more. We will arrive at the town of Palccoyo. We will continue, for a few minutes towards the starting point of our walk, upon arrival you will be able to get the first views of the main mountain.
From there, we will travel around 45 minutes at your own pace until we reach the Palccoyo viewpoint (4880m/16,000ft), you will observe some alpacas in the distance, since the inhabitants of the area are dedicated to raising alpacas. The locals of the area, adorn the head and ears of these animals as a sign of affection since these animals are very tender.
Once at the viewpoint, the view is indescribable, you will see not only the main mountain, but also the other two colored hills that make up palccoyo. From here you will have time to appreciate the wonderful landscape and contemplate the imposing snow-capped Ausagante (6,327 m / 20,900 ft). You will even be able to appreciate part of the red valley; whose sediments form the red river. Then you will go up to the stone forest to take an incredible photo observing this geological sample, product of millions of years of melting thaw.
Once we have finished enjoying the incredible landscape, we will descend the same path to the base camp to go to lunch. And finally we culminate this adventure, and we will take you in our private transport back to your hotel in Cusco.
