Sacred Valley Tour

The sacred valley of the Incas or Urubamba valley, is located in the province of Urubamba in Cusco, extends from Pisac to Ollantaytambo and a little further to Piscacucho.

On this day, you can expect to stop at Ollantaytambo, the archaeological site and colorful market of Pisac, the Inca site of Chinchero, and the Andean Textile Center. On the tour, from Ollantaytambo to Cusco, you will have the opportunity to stop at some fantastic viewpoints to witness the beauty of the Andean mountain and the impressive landscape of the valley.

All places along the valley have pre-Hispanic ruins that were built by different Inca kings and used as citadels or resting places. For the Incas the sacred valley was literally a paradise on earth. In addition, it was highly appreciated by the Quechua civilization for its geographical and climatic qualities. Now the valley is one of the key points of agricultural production due to the richness of the soil and the area where corn grains are produced in Peru.

This day, we will be outside of the city and will visit the following destinations:

  • Traditional Market of Pisac

  • Pisac Archaeological Inca Site

  • Urubamba

  • Ollantaytambo

Its temperate climate and countryside make it a productive valley, especially known for growing the world's finest corn

    Inca site of Ollantaytambo:

Ollantaytambo is the last town in the sacred valley. It is located at 2750 meters (12300 feet). It is the best preserved Inca town in Peru, with its narrow streets, aqueducts and canchas (Inca apartments).
Ollantaytambo was occupied by the Quillques culture, who built some rougher constructions around the town. After Pachacuteq conquered the area around 1450, construction began in the town, the Inca site is composed of hundreds of steps, agricultural terraces, ten niche temple, unfinished temple of the sun and princess baths, or princess baths with step designs, representing the sacred Andean symbol (Chacana). Finally, we will continue our journey to the town of Chinchero.
